About me

Starting with my first ever sewing machine for Christmas back in 2004, sewing has always been apart of me. I still fondly remember sewing my first ever *#memade, a hot pink, lycra, leopard print miniskirt. Although my style has changed, my love for sewing has not. Over the years I continued to sew, eventually pursuing a degree in fashion at Uni.

I have always felt extremely lucky that I found sewing at an early age (9) it gave me a focus, a sense of direction throughout my adolescence years and young adulthood. While others my age found pleasure in drinking and going into the city on a night out, I found it at home sewing in my studio. There were times when I felt that there was something wrong with me finding pleasure in sewing, but the gradual progression of my skills and confidence bleed into other parts of my life and I now lead a very full and happy life. And it is this I want to share.

ABOUT FORD

Ford was created as a way of sharing my love for sewing, by creating simple and easy to follow patterns that encouraged new sewers to take up needle and thread to create their own *#memadewardrobe. Designing patterns that allow a sewer to build confidence and their sewing knowledge has been a key part of Ford, as all of our patterns include in-depth illustrations and instructions.

While I found sewing at a young age and have built up a repertoire of knowledge, I want to share this skill with all levels of sewers. Ford offers the space for a sewer to continue to learn no matter their skill level. While traditional patterns are often outdated and contain difficult to intemperate language, Ford includes timeless designs and language with sewing terminology that add to a sewers experience. Our patterns offer practical and exciting designs that are adaptable and offer personalisation, and have been tried and tested with a variety of different skill levels.

Ford is about learning and developing, personalisation and experimentation. Allowing you, the sewer to use your hands to make something beautiful to wear or give. Sewing is a skill that always gives back to you, and I hope that you will discover love and passion that sewing brings as I do.

*#memade - #memadewardrobe. - A phrase commonly used in the sewing community to describe a garment to outfit that has been made by the sewer.
